2017 Budget Release

The 2017 budget was a challenging budget requiring difficult decisions to be made to balance the budget while ensuring key programs such as infrastructure maintenance and repair and the transfer to infrastructure replacement are not compromised.

Melfort Skatepark

Quick facts about the Skatepark development process

·         June, 2016:  Council approves Phase 1 of the Spruce Haven Park Development, which includes a budget of $720,700 for the construction of a Skatepark and site servicing. See:  Press Release 

·         July, 2016:  An RFP is issued for the Skatepark Design and Development, which is awarded to New Line Skateparks Inc.

McDonald's Restaurants Coming to Stone Gate Shopping Centre

McDonald's Restaurants has purchased land in the Stone Gate Shopping Centre. The familiar site of the golden arches will be seen as you drive into the City of Melfort in the future.

Compost Site Closing

The Compost Site will be closing on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  See you next spring!

Located at the west end of Central Street, during the regular season (May-October) the site is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm and accepts the following items:

  • Garden refuse
  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Branches under 8" in diameter

The following items are not accepted:

  • Elm trees or elm branches
  • Tree stumps
  • Tree roots
  • All bags, boxes and containers must be removed
