Sobeys coming to StoneGate!
The City of Melfort along with John Burton of Avatex Dev. Corp. confirmed today that another national retailer has purchased property at the StoneGate Shopping Centre located on Saskatchewan Drive South in the City. Sobeys Capital Inc. have acquired a 3.16 acre parcel and will join Canadian Tire, Marks Work Warehouse, Canalta Hotels, Tim Hortons and Boston Pizza who have already developed on the site.
The City will complete excavation work that began last fall and the sight should be prepared to finish grade before summer. As a part of the land sale, the Shopping Centre Developer, Avatex Dev. Corp. has exercised their option to purchase the balance of the Phase II and Phase III Lands over time. Mayor Rick Lang states “The decision of Avatex to commit to purchase the entire remaining shopping centre site is a clear indication of their confidence in the future of this project.”
Long term plans for the StoneGate Shopping Centre include additional retail stores, free standing restaurants, and one or more banks. Multi tenant buildings will house smaller retailers. When fully developed the project will encompass 30 acres with approximately 250,000 sq.ft. of building space.
