A Bylaw of the City of Melfort Respecting Payment of Taxes
Important Notice to Property Owners
Commencing 2014 the City of Melfort will no longer offer discounts for prepayment of property taxes. With the early payment discounts not applying to education property tax, it is no longer cost effective to offer a prepayment discount on the municipal portion of the property tax bill as the costs incurred would exceed the monies earned. On December 9, 2013, Melfort City Council adopted a recommendation from the Legislative and Finance Committee to discontinue the discount for prepayment of municipal property taxes commencing in 2014.
