Notice of Open House - Use of City Property

Thursday, April 3, 2014

NOTICE OF OPEN HOUSE
TO DISCUSS THE USE OF CITY PROPERTY
Thursday, April 3, 2014
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Kerry Vickar Centre – ACU Room
Question & Answer Format

Council is requesting public input on a proposed policy to restrict the use of city property (e.g. buffer strips, greenspace, lots for sale) to permit only garden plots on buffer strips. This policy is being considered to address the burgeoning issues associated with the unauthorized use of public property, which is creeping into many areas of the City.
The draft policy will be presented to Council for consideration at the regular meeting on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 5:00 pm in the Council Chambers. Although the policy will become effective immediately, any existing, non-compliant owners will have until September 30, 2014, to comply with the new policy.
We acknowledge that many residents have been caring for adjacent city property for many years, and we thank you.
