McDonald's Restaurants Coming to Stone Gate Shopping Centre

The City of Melfort along with Avatex Dev. Corp. confirmed today that another national retailer has purchased property at the Stonegate Shopping Centre located on Saskatchewan Drive South in the City. McDonald’s Restaurants have finalized details on the purchase of a 1.2 acre parcel of land and will join Canadian Tire, Marks Work Warehouse, Canalta Hotels, Tim Hortons and Boston Pizza who have already developed on the site.

Community Development Manager, Brent Lutz stated “The necessary excavation and grading was completed on the site a number of years ago and it is shovel ready. However, plans do not include a construction date in 2017. Obviously the City and Avatex Devcorp would be happy to see construction start as soon as possible but it is our understanding that McDonalds have already finalized their construction calendar for the coming construction season.”

Long term plans for the StoneGate Shopping Centre include additional retail stores, free standing restaurants, and one or more banks. Multi tenant buildings will house smaller retailers. When fully developed, over the next 5-7 years, the project will encompass 30 acres with approximately 250,000 sq.ft. of building space and will be the largest shopping centre in the trade area.
