Welcome to Melfort, the City of Northern Lights!

Melfort could also be called The City of Opportunities. As you spend time in our City you will find opportunities to live in a safe community, a caring community and one with all the amenities of much larger cities, including the Northern Lights Palace Wave Pool and Arena, Melfort and District Museum, Melfort Golf and Country Club and much, much more.

Melfort has a strong commercial district and serves the entire northeastern portion of Saskatchewan. There are also opportunities for business in Melfort. Great incentive packages, available commercial land and buildings and an open attitude to make you feel wanted.

City of Northern Lights Photo Contest

The City of Melfort Web site is being updated to serve your needs better, and as part of the upgrade, we’re running a photo contest!

Enter your photos of Melfort and your art could be featured throughout the new site! Photos of places around town, surrounding area, community events, and distinct features of our home will be displayed throughout the Web site, which will help us show people what makes the Diamond Gate city a great place to live, work and play.

To submit your digital photo, please email it to: with the subject “Photo Contest”. Be sure to include your first and last name, telephone number, and the title of the photo (ie – the location, building or event depicted) along with the name of the photographer (if it isn't you).

Contest Considerations:

  • Photos are donated freely without expectation of royalty or usage payment.
  • Limit of one photo per email entry, per day.
  • Unless photo depicting a public event, people must have given permission to appear in the photo submission.
  • By submitting the photos, the entrant acknowledges that they have permission to use the images, and that the images become the property of the City of Melfort for use in promoting the City of Melfort.
