Local Parks

The Recreation and Parks Department is responsible for the development and maintenance of all the parks within Melfort. The department cuts over 1,000 acres of ground area and is responsible for City wide tree care.

Prince Albert National Park

Located 50 km north of Prince Albert off Highway No. 3. Waskesiu, the parks resort centre, has rental cabins, campgrounds, country club golf course, bowling greens, tennis courts, riding stables, roller rink, dance pavilion, saddle horse rentals and theatre. You can even take a cruise on a real paddlewheeler, visit a buffalo paddock, or a pelican rookery. Take a short course in natural history at the park museum, or hike the scenic trail to Grey Owl's cabin on the shores of the Ajawaan Lake. Fantastic beaches and superb fishing await tourists. Greenwater Lake Provincial Park

Located 10 km south of Chelan on Highway No. 38. A 46,000 acre natural environment park. Open year round. Located in the scenic Porcupine Forest with Spruce and Silver Aspen. Attractions include 5 deluxe winterized log cabins for rent plus fishing, tennis courts, riding horses, picnicking, groceries/supplies, extensive natural trail, water sports club and a nine hole golf course. Kipabiskau Regional Park

Located 50 km south of Melfort off Highway No. 6. Kipabiskau Lake is 2 km x 11 km and open May to September. Natural, beautifully treed location in the valley of the Barrier River. Kipabiskau provides excellent opportunities for boating, canoeing and fishing. Services available are picnicking, firewood, groceries/supplies, canoe and boat rentals, etc.
