Starting Monday, September 26 to Monday, October 3, for appx 8 consecutive days, the city will be flushing water mains throughout the City, starting on the east side. Flushing areas will be announced each morning on CK750 Radio, and signs will be posted. We encourage residents to limit their use of water during this period. Do not wash clothes as the water may be slightly discolored. If you notice poor water flows after your area has been flushed, clean the screens on your taps and if that doesn't work, contact City Hall at 306-752-5911 and we will drop by to investigate. Thank you.
Water Security Agency Issues Approval to Use River Water
The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency has provided permission for SaskWater to reopen the water treatment plant intake at the Saskatchewan River. The Potable Water Station at City Hall will continue to operate from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm daily, as it will take some time for the PFRA reservoir water to flush out of the distribution system. The City of Melfort plans to undertake a thorough flushing program starting next week, which will also affect water quality.
The water in Melfort is safe and meets all drinking water standards; however, to assist residents experiencing an issue with taste and odor, a Potable Water Fill Station has been set up in the Melfort City Hall parking lot at 201 MacLeod Ave W, operating daily from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm until further notice. There will be occasional delays when the truck refills. Residents may fill 20-litre containers at no charge.
